Just read this book at Borders the other day- very interesting WI scenarios discussed dealing with how Hitler actually did wanna militarily defeat the US after he'd dealt with the UK & USSR- including chapters on:
-the U-Boat campaign
-the AMERIKABOMBER program (incl use of the Azores for long-range German bombing of NY, which in turn caused the USMC to devise an invasion plan using the 6th Marines)- which however never came to fulfilment due to the LUFTWAFFE hierarchy's complete lack of vision to develop a strategic bomber force able to strike enemies well beyond Germany's borders
-plans to develop & use V2-derived ICBMs or submarine-launched V1s on American cities
-German espionage efforts in CONUS- such as Op PASTORIUS, & the interesting qn of the likelihood of success of the German team's sabotage mission had the guy in charge decided not to blow the whistle (which even when he did, the FBI was very lax to respond to cos they didn't take him seriously)
-German plans to invade Brazil from Nth Afr- which in turn led to US plans to pre-emptively invade Brazil with a large USN taskforce & a Marine regt, then use 2 Army divs to occupy key cities & infarstructure in the northeast
