Why would Austria get anything? They were neither involced nor did Austria border Belgium.

True; but Prussia is their main competition within the German confederation, and they were one of the five great powers in the concert of Europe.

Did they really not bother with this plan? And even if yes: Was it because other powers protested so much that there was no need to say anything on their own behalf?
 
Austria was a signatory to the OTL Treaty of London which officially ended the war and guaranteed Belgian neutrality.
