Taiwu lives longer: How would a Northern Wei Daoist theocracy look like?

If Emperor Taiwu of Northern Wei had managed to live a little longer, how much worse could his persecution of Buddhism get? Would greater support enable Daoism to continue in strength? Daoist theocracy might be a strong term for the Northern Wei during his reign, but it's not a bad term. In this scenario, Kou Qianzhi and Cui Hao probably need to stick around a little longer. How far could the Daoist theocracy be established in China?

I'm going to concede that Taiwu had a relatively long reign for a Chinese ruler already, and his predecessor and successor had shorter reigns. However, a decade longer doesn't seem unreasonable. Also, would there be a possible successor to continue the anti-Buddhist policies? Taiwu's historical crown prince seems to be a Buddhist devotee, but I imagine that there has to be some prince eligible for the throne who would agree with Kou and Cui and their ilk.

Is it even a good idea liberally to suppress Buddhism in China? Is Daoism really a better choice? How heavily would this influence China's foreign policies?

It's not a good idea, no, which is why Taiwu's policies were reversed shortly after his death. His attempt to get rid of Buddhism failed, but then again, it wasn't in place for that long.

The argument, that Daoism is better, has some strength, but only for Chinese chauvinists like, well, Cui Hao and Kou Qianzhi. The idea was that Daoism was native to China and Buddism wasn't.

I actually haven't thought about how it would affect China's foreign policy. In the long run, it depends on the anti-Buddhist faction being in power first.

This does seem like a dauntingly good idea for an ATL, but...
Are there any other ideas in your head that you would rather make an ATL about? I have a few in my Sig if you want.

I wasn't really planning to make a timeline out of this, mainly because it doesn't seem plausible enough. Maybe I could make a segment of snapshots, in the style of a few timelines here, but it won't be something that could be called a timeline.
