Syrian and North African elephants never go extinct

How can I make the Syrian and North African elephants not go extinct and survive until the present day? What might happen to the Arab world and what are the cultural byproducts of this?

Hunting and habitat loss are the big enemies of large animals. With the gradual desertification of both the formerly Fertile Crescent and of North Africa, you might need some active conservation measures. Have fun implementing those in the Roman Empire.

Sell the Romans on the value of war elephants. While elephant domestication is unlikely, they might have a vested interest in keeping viable populations for that purpose.

You would need a wetter less populated North Africa and Syria, sadly I do not know how you would get either
