Syria doesn't pull back from Jordan in 1970?

I'm reading a book on warfare in the missile age and in the War of Attrition chapter is a short description of Syria's invasion of Jordan in 1970 to support Palestinian rebels. In our timeline Syria backed down in the face of Jordanian airstrikes and the threat of Western and Israeli intervention. What would have happened in Syria had doubled down kept attacking?

Israeli intervention, which gets very ugly. The entire Levant probably ends up in a civil war as confusing as Lebanon's.
