Alternate Great Northern War

Sweden was declared on by The Tsardom of Russia, the Kingdom of Denmark and the Electorate of Saxony. Sweden defeated the Coalition decisively within the first 6 years of the war. Sweden could've ended the war on the year, 1700. I believe Sweden lost the war when it made the decision in 1707 to do a full on invasion into Russia, while Russia is invading Sweden. This is an alternate timeline where if Karl XII listened to his generals to defeat the Russian invaders before invading Russia and where he comes out on top. Also where he occupied the Danish-Norwegians and vassalized them. I have some other timelines of how Sweden did this and defeated the Coalition. Here is an un detailed skim, Sweden occupies Denmark-Norway in 1700, the military still fights on, Karl appoints some people to fight for him. Karl defeats Russia at Narva. Invades the PLC, defeats Saxony by 1706. Sweden goes to defeat the Russians in Sweden's Baltic territory. Sweden defeats them and takes Pskov. He invades Lithuania. Lithuania is defeated and Smolensk is taken. The Ottomans join the Swedish side after diplomacy. More support is sent to Denmark-Norway by Sweden. Russia. Is gangbanged as Cossacks rise up due to scorched earth. Sweden invades Novgorod and Karelia. Moscow is besieged in mid 1720s. Peter dies, Catherine I dies and Russia surrenders. War ends in 1727.
I might do a more detailed TL of a future from this. Tell me your thoughts!

A Swedish occupation and vassalization of Denmark-Norway is very unlikely. The naval powers came to the aid of Sweden as part of their gaurantee of Holstein-Gottorp. They were perfectly happy with the OTL arrangement. Without their support the Swedes cannot keep forces in Denmark. Besides, leaving troops to occupy Denmark-Norway will mean that the navy and the army are not available for Narvia.

A much better scenario is the OTL defeat of Denmark and Battle of Narva, but the Russian army is sent to prison camps rather than let go.

Then the OLT Düna and march into Poland-Lithuania, but Sweden accepts the Sejm's declaration of neutality, but declares they will cross Polish territory to get to Saxony. Kliszow is a more decisive Swedish victory since more of the Polish crown army does not show up. The Swedes barter with the Emperor and cross Silesia to occupy Saxony in late 1702. The German garrisons are left in Saxony to keep August honest. The Swedes then march north and oust the Russians from Ingria 1703.

Peter stands alone, without a modern army in late 1703. 1704 Sweden invades and goes straight for Moscow. Russia is forced to sue for peace. Sweden takes Courland from Poland-Lithiania and Archangelsk (plus Far Karelia, Kola etc) from Russia and holds Pskov and Novgorod for 10 years while the Russians pay war indemnities.

I would put Adam Ludwig, Swedish Sympathizers and some powerful nobles/royals who'd want the thrones of Denmark and Norway to battle the opposition

What happened OTL was that Denmark invaded Holstein-Gottorp with 20 000 men. The Swedish and Holstein-Gottorp forces numbered roughly 5 000 men and retreated to Tönningen, where they were placed under siege by the Danes. The siege was lifted by tthe Swedish garrisons of northern Germany, about 8 000 men, united with the Lüneburgian army in May 1700.

When the the Swedish navy managed to unite with the Lüneburgian, Dutch and English fleets sent to aid Holstein-Gottorp in July, the Danish navy retreated to Copenhagen in July and July-August Sweden managed to land 10 000 men on Sjealland - the Danish army tried to oppose the landing, but failed and retreated to Copenhagen.

The Danes then made peace with England, the Netherlands, Holstein-Gottorp and Lüneburg on the 8th of August 1700 and their respective fleets sailed home and the Lüneburgian army marched home.

At this time, Sweden has 10 000 men on Sjaelland, facing a roughly equally strong Danish army inside a well-fortified Copenhagen and 13 000 men in Northern Germany/Holstein-Gottorp facing a 20 000 men strong Danish army in the region. The Danish navy is superior to its Swedish counterpart both in quantity and quality, so the Swedes will have a very hard time moving reinforcements to either place, or supplying the troops in Sjealland.

The fact that a further 10 000 men are occupied with guarding the border with Norway means that neither the navy nor the army is available to relieve Narva or Riga that year. Which probably means that both falls and your Baltic provinces are forfeit.

Before you can take the Danish throne, you need to take Copenhagen, which will require a lengthy siege which you cannot supply and the Netherlands and England are bound to support the Danes once you try to take it - they don't want either Sweden or Denmark dominating the Sound straits.

What Swedish sympathisers or Danish nobles after the throne do you think you will find in Denmark, especially BEFORE you have captured Copenhagen?
