Sweden in WWII

Is there any possible war Sweden can become an active participant in WWII, on the allied or axis side? I'm hoping we have some knowledgeable members on this..

How about the USSR attacking Sweden in 1943 . They drop parachutes troops on the Capital and attack with there Air Force .
#2 Sweden is invaded by Germany in 1941 Along with the USSR .

At the beginning of World War Two Germany was heavily dependent on Swedish Iron Ore which was shipped to the Reich primarily from the northern but ice free port of Narvik.
During the winter of 1939 the Allied High Command came up with the hair-brained plan of landing at Narvik, securing the port and moving overland and ceasing the Swedish Iron Ore mines. All was to be justified with the excuse of going to the aid of Finland in their war against the Soviet Union. Fortunately before the operation was carried out the Finns sued of peace.
Had this ridiculous operation gone ahead as planned the most likely result would have been the entry of Norway, Sweden and the Soviet Union into World War Two on the Axis side.
The plans were later dusted off and used in May 1940 for the Norwegian Campaign. The very poor performance of the allies then suggests that they would have done just as badly earlier.

Germany had a plan for invading Sweden in 1943. Not much known about the operation, but a book came out in 2006: "Krigsfall Sverige!" by Jan Linder.

The idea was to invade Sweden from Norway with infantry and Panzertroops. The reason was to prevent Sweden from becoming a western ally (willingly or unwillingly), and the growing military strength of the swedes contributed to this concern.

Sweden was important for Germany as a tradepartner and for its export of iron ore. The Germans would therefore not likely be the agressor against a neutral Sweden, while the Western Allies were unable to act, given Swedens geographical possition in the Baltic. (If they even wanted to do so, which is very doubtfull either.)

Only the USSR was a serious potential agressor, as even in 1939, the Russian agression against Finland invoked Swedish aid (as well as Norwegian and from other nations) for the Samuo wariors, fighting against the Russian Bear. This aid was in its own a reason for Russian plans to eventually push in the entire Scandiavian Peninsula, against both Sweden and Norway. This never happened, as the Armistrice of 1939 prevented this, although it again was broken by the Russians shortly afterwards.

I think Germany would want to be on the same side as Sweden due to their iron ore and other bits of machinery Germany would find useful, like ball bearings. The USSR during the Winter War would have been their biggest threat, particularly given the Swedish aid to the Finns.

Yes. There's a lot of possibilities. For example, the Romelus and Remulus incident (I'm sure somebody will object but let's call it a act of piracy commited by the Royal Navy against the Swedish Navy. Somebody could start shoting.) Soviet forces attacked ships within territorial waters and bombed Sweden. Rickman-ligan. Hitler had hunches and could attack more or less at random (book tip, Attentat i Pålsjö Skog or something, use the search function on AH.com.) Swedens involvment in Finland. The Police Troops.

During the Winter War, The Swedish General in Charge of northern districts decided that if Finland went down, Sweden would be next.
Figuring it would be better to fight in Finland, than in Sweden, He drew a mental line. If Russia advance past it, He would lead his 6 Division into Finland and Attack the Russians.

OTL -
The Russians boged down 50 miles short, the Swedish General staff got wind of the Plan, He was recalled. and nothing happened.

ATL -
A key section of the Finnish resistance collapses, Russian forces move north faster, cross the line, and Sweden enters the war.
With Russia DoWing Sweden [Stalin doesn't believe in Rouge Generals] Norway enters the War [with Sweden] British/French Men/Supplies move across Norway/Sweden.

Wait a sec. Norway is occupied by Germany right? So Sweden would join the axis right? Not the allies.

No, it seems that when this would happen Norway would still be free. Now, the fall out of all this would be very interesting, You could have Stalin and Hitler going buddy buddy with each other, and you would most likely have Hitler launch Wurserbung early.

Logistics, logistics, logistics

Germany? By the time they could undo the blitzing of the iron ore
mines AND get them fully running again WWII would be half over. Those
mines are waaay up in northern Sweden and could not be gotten to
quickly, esp. by the kind of troops the Germans had in Norway. Their
concern were the Brits.
Russia? Have to get thru Finland first. Different rail gauges and
one helluva diversion of resources.
Britain? Even after America came in nothing changes the fact that
they can't get to Sweden logistically. Both Norway and Denmark
present problems preventing entry. Norway doesn't have a single
major port except Oslo which is a shooting gallery for the defenders
against a naval invasion. Even the Germans in 1940 got slaughtered
and would have been driven into the sea if not for their
paratroopers. Copenhagen itself isn't as bad but getting thru those
belts/straights is worse.
And I haven't mentioned that Sweden's army wasn't much smaller
than Finland's, with a good rail network to get the troops where
they would be needed. How was their navy and air power?
All these facts were known OTL, which is why I think no one gave
Sweden a second glance.
By the way, is it true Sweden cut the Nazis off right after the liberation
of Paris? Not much the Germans could do by then.:D
What would it have cost Hitler if done early on? At the very least
a more anemic U-Boat War, Case Blue, and Kursk. Yes, let us
leave the swedes alone. They're not going anywhere...
