How could Burgundy survive, not becoming part of France?
What would be the consequences?

Well, any could be interesting. I initially meant the 15th century one, but others could be interesting to discuss too.So which Burgundy do you mean,...
Lombards prop it up as a puppet state.
Could be a good possibility. Though, do you think it would survive in this way, with might France as a neighbour?
Any POD early enough for the Lombards propping up anything, and "Mighty France" isn't guaranted to be.

For the first Kingdom, the best way would be to keep either a strong Ostrogothic Kingdom or the East Romans in Italy, so the Burgundians in their Rhodanic territory would be a useful buffer state against the Franks. Your you keep the Frankish kingdom from forming, which is rather difficult, since they had a much better connection to their original homeland/population base than the other Germanic realms of the migration period.
Kereping the Kdm of Arelate around in the 11th century would probably require doing bad things to the HRE. A decisive Magyar victory at the Lechfeld could abort the whole HRE and the Ottonian dynasty, and via butterflies Rhodanic Burgundy might emerge as regional power, berhaps as a Super-Savoy, expanding towards Piemont and/or Languedoc.
For the third kingdom - somehow either give CtB another son or two, thereby securing the line and mellowing the personality of Charles the No-longer-so-bold, so the coronation at Trier in 1473 really happens.
