Surviving Facist Italy

Could Italy during the war in which it is neutral, play Britain and France off against each otherin order to obtain French Somaliland and British Somaliland?

Imagine Italy giving up Ethiopia, but maintaining the coast from the border with Kenya to that with Sudan...

Also, could Mussolini get in on the Pacific War and get some islands ou t of the Japanese, perhaps the modern-day FSM?

(Correction on the second-to-the-last paragraph:
by the 60s-70s, mussolini would have either died or been incapacitated to do his role as il duce. by the time of his successor, stagnation would have seeped in the fascist state, much like what happened in brezhnev's USSR. by the 80s, a gorbachev would have come to power in an attempt to save the fascist system. by the 90s, fascist italy would have been history

;)
Well, probable successors of Mussolini are not a man but a coalition of two or three personality. In all probability Galeazzo Ciano,Italo Balbo ans Dino Grandi. All this was friends of United States and Great Britain.A great problem for Italy would have been liberations Wars (like Algeria in OTL) in Libia and in Ethiopia.
