There's a lot of interesting material about the landed nobility and other Franks within Outremer beginning to consider themselves Easterners rather than of the West. If the Crusader States survived longer or to present (by some miracle, perhaps holding out and then tribute to Mongols while getting some land out of the deal until the latter collapsed), what would the cultural implications be? I'm assuming the landed class would begin intermingling with the natives (which was already true of the nobility marrying Eastern Christians), so I'm sure a unique new group of people would eventually form.

Thoughts here? Assuming Byzantines continue to wane (perhaps falling to Bulgarians or other Europeans considering the strength of Christendom from a surviving Christian Levant), do the Europeans and their descendants become Orthodox or do they remain loyal to Rome?
