What if instead of the usual "red baron survives" threads we do something different? What if Oswald Boelcke or Max Immelmann survived the war?
Boelcke was more in the creation of tactical doctrine and establishing training schools, making him a prime candidate for having a potentially influential role post-war/pre-war in developing an air force. Maybe his total would surpass even the red baron's if he had lived beyond 1916. Indeed, the Richthofen continued to idealize the man even after he had long surpasses his total. One interesting factor about him was his development of squadron tactics instead of only individual maneuvers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oswald_Boelcke
So, perhaps have him get involved with the Nazis and we could have a massive boost in the Luftwaffe's doctrine and structure pre-war. No Knight of the Sky concept of running the pilots until death, but a healthy rotation system with a focus on unit tactics. This could mean a deadlier time for the Allies.
