Survival of North Friesian*

I was reading a book with a chapter about Danish languages politic in Schlewig before 1864. One of the thing that hit me was that in the traditionel Frisian areas along the Wadden Sea (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordfriesland), German was used in the Church and School, while in Schleswig-Flensburg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schleswig-Flensburg) Danish was used. South of that only German was used. So what if some danish government get the idea to used Friesian as vedge issue against the Germans, by using it in Nordfriesland as church and school languages and fully recognise the Friesian as a national language. The result could be a full Friesian national identity from the early 19th century. We could end up with a Friesian majority in Nordfriesland.

*While North Frisian isn't dead, there're only 10000 speakers left, and few children learn the language, there're good chance that it will disappear in two or three generations.

Possibilities for a Denmark- North Friesland double monarchy??

No, but there's other possiblities, Denmark would here create a early standardlise North Frisian languages, it lessen the support to German cause in the Schlewig Wars, beside if Denmark does this, the use of Danish Schleswig-Flensburg will seem less like a attempt centralise power away from Schleswig, and will get more support from the locals*. The result could be a Danish-German linguistic border a little north of Schlewig (town). But I'm affraid that the loss in 1864 is unavoidable. Of course it could be interesting if independent german Schleswig-Holstein state** ended up under Frederik August (would be known as Frederik VII) with this demography.

*In OTL a lot of Danish speakers in Schleswig-Flensburg adopted German in protest against what they saw as centralising power in Copenhagen.

**Like Oldenburg or Bavaria.
