Simply put, what is the best way to achieve the survival of the Britons, that is the Celtic peoples who had once inhabited England, and what would happen afterwards? This is a topic that's been bugging me a long time, and it doesn't help that I've been reading Bernard Cornwell's Warlord Chronicles series. I once heard robertp165 assert that if the Romans had not conquered Britain the natives would be in a much better position to fend off the Saxon invasions, if they still came, or any similar invasions. His reasoning was that the Roman occupation resulted in the loss of British martial traditions as over the years of occupation the natives relied on Roman soldiers to protect them from outside threats, in addition to other factors. I was wondering how many people would agree with this assessment. This is also a prime scenario for the challenge, as I would prefer if you have Britain not be Romanized to any extent, though preventing the Saxon conquest at all is the main goal here. Questions to be raised are would the Celtic pagan traditions continue instead of Christianity? What kingdoms would eventually form from the tribes over the years? How would the rest of the world be affected? Stuff like this. So yeah, thoughts?
