Survival of Jordan-Iraq and Egypt-Syria

In the 50's and 60's the arab nations of Jordan, Iraq, Syria and Egypt entered in several unions.

These unions were shortlived with Jordan-Iraq collapsing the same year as it was founded.
Egypt-Syria(Known as United Arab Republic) ended after 3 years.

Is there a way for a PoD to make these states last longer or even into the present?
Even better could Jordan-Iraq join with United Arab Republic later on?

The PoD must be after WW1, in 1919.

For the United Arab Republic to survive, you'd need Nasser to stop being such a complete douche to the Syrians: OTL, he forced them to accept Egyptian-style agricultural reform, forced the Syrian army to subordinate to the Egyptian one, and generally acted like a dictator. In essence, you'd need an -equal- Arab Republic, i.e. one where both parts of the state rule equally, rather than Egypt becoming dominant. A more powerful Syria, probably, or one with more strident pro-union leaders that demand equality in the Republic.
