Survival of a United Sweden-Poland

You could have Sigismund succeed in enforcing his claim on Sweden. The Polish kings did claim to be the rightful Kings of Sweden for some time afterwards.

Well, maybe... If you completly rewrite Sigismund Vasa personality, so that he can be pragmatic, he trusts first Zamoyski and then Zolkievski to oversee Poland and spends more time in Sweden, maybe there is no clause about Livonia in his Pacta Conventa (he propably would be elected anyway) - its not impossible. Stronger Russia, which would panick and attack both countries around 1600 would propably also help, as common enemy uniting both people. But it would be very hard and rather unstable, and such a union propably would be quite prone to falling apart. Not to mention that if it survives, many countries would do whatever is in their power to help in engineering its fall - it would be far too powerful.

How was the situation of Swedish nobility in late XVI/early XVII century? Would it be possible to buy them with some rights copied from PLC?
