As it says on the tin I have some surperbowl what ifs for you guys. Before anyone asks, yes I know I'm late, yesterday I was too busy betting on plays, cointoss, etc and I forgot to post it:

1)What would be the cultural and football effects of no AFL-NFL merger and thus no superbowl?

2) Effects on advertisement companies if no superbowl to assure millions of viewers

3) Superbowl is always broadcasted on the same channel each year

4) If no Superbowl 38 halftime show "incident", effects on censorship and the FCC

5) And finally because I want a Vlad Tepes award (they still give those right?) badly, what if instead, or in addition to 9/11, terrorists launch a successful attack/bombing during the game itself? Discuss the cultural effects of this? Keep in mind that an average Superbowl has over

I've got a couple.

Super Bowl XXXVI (36, Patriots v. Rams). WI: The Patriots play for the tie, rather than the win, sending the Super Bowl into overtime?

Super Bowl XLIV (44, Colts v. Saints). As a Colts fan, there are a dozen of these for me, but I'll go with the two biggest.
1). What if the onside kick at the beginning of the second half is recovered by the Colts? OR, if the Saints had simply kicked off instead of onside kicking?
2). What if Peyton Manning doesn't throw that interception to Tracy Porter?

P.S. Do you want ideas as to what would have happened after the Super Bowl if certain events had occurred (Coaching changes or lack of them)?

Go ahead, I don't mind at all.

WI, in Superbowl XLII, Steve Smith fails to intercept Manning's pass at the 45 second mark of the fourth quarter -- depriving the Giants of the final winning touchdown, and giving the Patriots the game? I'd say effects are likely to include Tom Brady, now with four superbowl rings, becoming his era's superstar -- but also hearings held by a miffed Arlen Specter, examining new allegations of Belichik's Videotape controversy.

Super Bowl 21

In SB 21, there were a few situations that could have turned it into a Denver win:

1. Early in the second quarter, the Broncos came within inches of a blocked punt with the score 10-7 Denver.

2. The Broncos had the ball at the Giant 1, but three bad play calls led to a Karlis FG attempt that was missed.

3. Later in the second quarter, Clarence Kay had a catch taken away at the Giant 30, and John Elway was sacked in the end zone on the next play.

4. The Broncos tried another FG, but it missed as well.

5. Early in the third quarter, the Giants decided to go for a fake punt and got it. If that backfired, Denver would have had the ball around their 40
