Sun Yat Sen vs Yuan showdown 1912

What would happen if for some reason the Nanking Government and the Peking Government of Yuan could not reach an agreement where Sen resigned and handed over power to Yuan?

1. How would the civil war play out? ( or would there even be one, perhaps Sen or Yuan are deposed )

2. How would post war china look in terms of Government, unity, and social policy with a KMT or Yuan/Imperial victory in such a civil war?

Another thought, how would Sun get along with the commies? ( Would the commies even become a major force in China in the first place? )

The Commies didn't become significant in China before the creation of the USSR. It was the revolutionary influence from Russia that boosted the Commies to a major faction.
