Sultanate of Ioannina

Ali Pasha of Ioannina was an Albanian Pasha based out of the town of Ioannina whose court was Greek-Speaking. He had a desire to establish a trading Sultanate wealthy enough to rival that of the Bey of Algiers and his influence was heavy in Southern Albania, Epirus, Thessaly, Euboea, Greek Macedonia, and Peloponnese.

Ali Pasha was killed in 1822, but what if he'd successfully broken away from the Ottoman Empire with his Greco-Albanian Sultanate?

To-be-Sultan Mahmud II perishes in the middle of the 1807-8 palace chaos, and the Ottoman Empire implodes. IMO, this would be the best opportunity for Ali Pasha.

Ehh... there are easier ways...

Mahmud II and Mustafa IV both die during the Janissary riot in Istanbul, leaving no male successor.

Even if successful in 1822, Ali Pasha still has to face Greek rebels. Ali was a brutal man and his way of dealing with Greeks will favor the latter even more.
