During the Irish potato Famine, Sultan Abdulmecid I of the Ottoman Empire had personally offered $10,000 of Potato rations to the Irish People during the famine.
(Adjusted for inflation is 500,000 Dollars in today's money)
However, Queen Victoria already donated $2,000 (80,000) and a British ambassador said he should only donate half of Queen Victoria's donation, and in the end, he was only able to donate around 1,000 dollars or $40,000 today.
It's confirmed however that Queen Victoria personally tried to stop the donation from entering Ireland, as not wanting to be topped which lead to a large amount of death.
But what if Abdulmecid I's offer was accepted and all dollars were sent to Ireland for food, and rations?
What would the British Public think? The Irish? The World, and especially its effects on the potato famine.
