Suggested Readings for a good Ancien Regime TL?

I'm really interested in France from Louis XIV to Louis XVI, and how that history might turn out better than OTL.

But know very little about them. Apart from a few books about Marie Antoinette.

The Great Nation by Colin Jones. Good book that describes in detail the death of Louis XIV to the rise of Napoleon.

Trouble is Ancien Régime covers so many different situations, during centuries between from Renaissance to French Revolution.

Which period interest you more?

Primarily military...

And also finance/land ownership.

Yes, but about about the temporal period. I mean, Ancien Régime, in the shortest meaning of the concept, begins with the end of Wars of Religions and ends with French Revolution. That means 200 years at best, that were among the most eventful periods in history.

Could you narrow it a bit?

Louis 15 to 16.

ENGLISH
- The Ancien Régime, C.B.A. Behrens
(General approach, right on the temporal spot)
- Nobles, Privileges and Taxes in France and at the end of the Ancien Régime, C.B.A. Behrens
- John Law, Antoine Murphy

FRENCH (but possibly translated)
- Les Français et l'Ancien Régime, Pierre Goubert/Daniel Rouche
(For a general approach)
- Histoire de la France de 1348 à 1852, Georges Duby
- L'armée française de la fin du XVIIème siècle au ministère de Choiseul, André Corvisier
(All right, it's a bit outdated, and sociologic observations as well than demographical details aren't that good. It's still quite informative about the principles and the structuration of the army).
- Le dur métier de Roi, Michel Antoine

FRENCH (it would be astonishing it would have been translated).
- Le XVIIIème siècle, Robert Muchembled
(University manual, should give you enough background as well a bibliography)
- Le cœur de l'État : surintendance, contrôle général et intendances des finances, 1552-1791, Michel Antoine
- Chronique maritime de la France d'Ancien Régime, Michel Vergé-Franceschi
