Successful Philippine Revolution

What if the 1890's revolution in the Philippines succeeded?

A good POD for this is for the revolutions to be complete ; all provinces revolt, with full backing of the populace, instead of the relatively few provinces that revolted which were easily put down. I could see the Spanish getting driven out of the country, all these before the deal between the Spanish and the Americans selling the country to the U.S.

Could Protestantism come to the Philippines? Could it fend off Japan in the Future? Could it Industrialize like the other European countries before it by the 1940's? Could the United States have good relations with the Philippines like OTL it has? Could the Philippines become one of the Asian Tigers, or equivalent to Japan today? And lastly, could it have the same population as today, or higher? (Please do note the U.S had a population less than four million at it's formation.) Could the insurgency in Mindanao be averted?

About Democracy ; I saw in my History book that before the Americans came, the laying foundations of Philippine Democracy has been established by Aguinaldo, so it was not really the Americans who brought the Democracy here.

P.S. I am a Filipino.

Please remind me if there is something I have to remove to avoid getting removed from this website.

It's highly unlikely that the Philippines would industrialize by the 1940s. It would be annexed by Japan, or made into an American protectorate. The population would probably not be any higher than it is today (The Philippines is very densely populated, comparable to Japan and South Korea).

There are good TL's dealing with a succesful Philippine Revolution:
1. El Maestro's "In the name of Freedom and Motherland" (on hiatus)
2. Admiral Awesome's "Hija del Sol de Oriente"

Well, considering the Philippines will be in the Allies, WWII goes as planned (but with Soviets attacking Germany First, hey, just for fun), I think the U.S. would help; after all they might respect Philippine independence, as to say. The PH might be independent today.

It totally depends on leadership. On one side you got people oblivious to development and modern organizations like Aguinaldo and Bonifacio on the other side you got Mabini, Rizal, Luna who can make this happen.

Philippines has got the manpower, resources and skills to actually make it successful. Just need to put the right people at the right places, at the right time. Otherwise, you will end up like OTL.

Just like the USA 1776, imagine if you did not make Washington as general nor people like Jefferson, Franklin crafting a government/constitution. Replace them with incapable/incompetent not so educated people or traitors like Benedict Arnold, USA will end up like the Philippines.

You got a Japan template for industrialization, OTL for annexation/colony of a power. South American countries are safe template for Philippines.

Philippines had many chances to Industrialize since 1900. Yes, it was USA's fault that Philippines did not industrialize in the early 20th century. But it was mostly Filipinos fault being a democracy after 1946. During the 1950s, Philippine economy was actually growing 7-10% ave per year as fast as Japan OTL 1950s. Had this continued in the 60's and 70s, we would be at par of OTL present day German economy.

So, in short, in order for Philippines to even industrialize as early as 1900, being it a democracy, you have to put the right leaders in place, otherwise you will end up like a subpar Philippine economy, 1960s-70s.

I dont think it is automatic Japan or American would annex/made protectorate the Philippines. The chances only becomes assured if you have the same leaders in OTL with the almost same things happenings for all countries involved.

I do agree with you that Philippine population will not be higher than today regardless if it industrializes or not.

Who were the right leaders then? Who were competent to lead my country? All seems blurry to me after an ATL 1899-so on. Yes I know my country's history, but not Alternate History, as the time of Independence in 1898 was too short so as to determine who were the right people. Aguinaldo was President for 3 years only, and in those 3 years went only to fight the Americans.

I would not be born anyway if this TL would happen!

1.) Local capability to politically unify
2.) Western Modern Warfare Military Capability to win battles
3.) Logistical Capability to win a long war
4.) Foreign Political Guile to avoid any great power interference

Another pattern would be OTL USA. You had the military and political decision makers split into two. Continental congress doing political decisions while Washington did all the military stuff.

A genius level like Genghis Khan or Alexander the Great can do all of these but OTL Philippines genius level person in 1890s was executed in 1896 unless butterflied away.
