1. What would it take for the German Army to leader a successful Ardennes Offensive against the allies? Where the long term objectives of the offensive achievable? To push forward and cut the allied armies in half, and sue for sepearate peace with the Western Allies? And could the impetus be maintained from a successful breakthrough?
2. And importantly, what would the effects have been if the Ardennes Offensive had not been undertaken at all? Apparently to undertake it a large amount of Elite Veteran German units where moved from the Eastern front, as well as a massive amount of new tanks and trucks where produced for the offensive, could this have helped to slow down the Red Army's advance? Many of the German soldiers felt they should defend their homeland against the 'Bolsheviks' much more so than the Western Allies..
