Subdivisions of Gran Colombia?

I know that the matter of a continuing Gran Colombia is a matter of speculation and debate, but lets just imagine that it continued (preferable as a federation), how would have Colombia been divided up? Initially, the nation was divided into three departments, but was further divided into 12 departments. When the nation collapsed, it was divided into three nations.

I know very little about Gran Colombia, but this question has bugged me for years. I know, I am a weirdo for asking such a "random" question. :winkytongue:

Their would likely be some that would remain to the present day, while you'd end-up seeing the population arc ones being divided into smaller ones as you got higher population density and city growth while I imagine the Amazon ones would likely be consolidated into a few that would have large enough population to justify existing.

As the population grew those 12 departments would have been subdivided as necessary. Today, given that Colombia has 32 departments, Ecuador has 24 provinces and Venezuela has 23 states, a still extant Gran Colombia might have 50 - 60 Departments.
