SU wins in '21 -- PSSR Western Border

So the USSR wins in 1921 and Annexes Poland forming the PSSR.
Whe now have a Soviet/German Border. ............... ?But what Border?

?What does this do to Danzig, and the Corridor Question?
?Would the Increased Red Scare be enuff to allow the 1920's Annexation of Austria? [there were several Austrian attempts to be annexed]

?Any Other West Europe, or American butterflies?

Germany would intervene and regain control of all the territories it lost to Poland under the guise(probably rightful) of keeping Western Europe secure. The idea of Germany being the bulwark against Soviet Imperialism would be put into immediate practice by, atleast, Britain.

Edit: Something like this maybe? Perhaps Germany took too much?

Intervene with what, in 1921 Germany had no Official Military Force capable of taking much of anything. Maybe they take Danzig -- with the Poles help.

I am thinking that any border settlement would be by France and Britain Saber Rattling.

Germany had plenty of willing volunteers and France and Britain just might help them take it. Not to mention, I'm sure most Poles would rather be 'German' than 'Soviet'..

It would certainly a good time for France and Britain to throw the ToV out of the window. Still, this would be very bad news as the Commies can now much better support their powerful minions in Germany.

Even more reason for the Entente to give up on the ToV. A much more menacing threat looms.

I agree with the stated theory that Germany would intervene, but another interesting question would be "What next?".

Surely after the "success" of spreading Communism to Poland, the not-quite-Soviets might desire its continued progression across Europe.

Plausible? If so, then who would they attack next? I would assume the Baltic States, as that would gain extra support in the nation, for it could be seen as retaking past Russian territories.

The various paramilitaries that they used in the Baltic and Silesia OTL?

Anyway, while Germany might want to restore the 1914 borders, I'm not sure if they could; the French would freak out, and the Germans have no desire to clash with the Russians; if they do too well, after all, the Polish state returns.

(What the French would do is an interesting question; but unclear).

Certainly I could see them grabbing the Corridor, and all of silesia. This would give them about 10% more coal than they had OTL; nothing to sneeze at.

Wasn't the general sentiment in the west at the time that Germany was going to be the 'Battle hamster' against soviet expansion?

No. The original plan was to use the Poles and Ukrainians, but somehow that didn't work out.

The Russians did offer to Partition poland along its "ethnographic frontiers", BTW. As it appeared that they were going to win, they took a harsher stance on the topic. So who knows?

Does that mean that the Russia gets all the territories with a Polish majority?

Because that means the Germans are just a little better of than OTL: they still lose most of Posen and large portions of the Corridor.

If Poland fell to the USSR, the Baltic states would be next.
Anyways, I guess Germany would try to grab the corridor to hinder it from falling in Soviet hands. (and they would liekly grab Memel when the Russkies shortly afterwards moved in on Lithuania).

Ethnographic territories was basically code for the corridor and the parts of Upper Silesia the Germans lost.

I see the border between Germany and the PSSR being along 1914 lines. Makes everyone happy (except the Poles), Germans get the corridor, Posen, Danzig and Upper Silesia, the Soviets get Congress Poland, western Galicia and the idea that they're reuniting the old Russian Empire. Win-win, to me. Except for the Poles. Maybe a buffer Polish state in Posen? Possible?
