Stronger Gran Colombia

Back when John Quincy Adams was secretary of state, he claimed that Gran Colombia was one of the most powerful nations in the world. However, Gran Colombia only existed for about 12 years. What would've had to take place for Gran Colombia to stay united and could it eventually become a major player on the world stage?

If you add up their population it would be 99 million, less than Mexico, and a GDP of about 600 billion dollars. On par with Argentina or half that of Mexico. If we assume Gran Colombia achieve the per capita GDP of Chile, it would have a GDP of 1.5 trillion dollars, equivalent to South Korea or Canada.

According to this TL you need the various Juntas to stop squabbling, Francisco de Miranda to be a bit more cool-headed, and Simon Bolivar to NOT become president.

And yes, a stable, democratic Gran Colombia has an immense potential. Populous, industrious, and think of those sweet oil reserves when the XX century comes around.
