Strong American nations other than the US?

As always I ama strong advocate of Quebec, take my tl "Vive le Canada" where abit forced immigration to Quebec settles the St. Lawrence area quickly and encourages westward settlement to the Great Lakes and Mississippi. The St. Lawrence-Great-Lakes-Mississippi-Louisiana route is something of a super highway allowing much quicker and better settlement by immigrants. This being much different to the slower US expansion which had to go overland and through the Appalachain mountains largely.

Are those provinces rich in anyway? Because if it becomes a populous and economically strong nation it could be an effective rival to the U.S. and would fulfill the goal of what I want to do.

No they weren't; they were only developed after decolonization IOTL and in the case of the provinces in the grand basin they are lacking in water. Coahuilha and Texas would inevitably dominate the viceroyalty until/unless someone built the same irrigation projects as the US in California IOTL. For an idea, 3 of the US states in the area only became states in the 20th century.
