Hoping this hasn't been done to death...
Late in 1944 & early 1945, there were OSS teams in IndoChina (now Vietnam) arranging aid for the Viets to fight the Japanese. Supposedly, Ho claimed to be an admirer of the U.S. Constitution.
Even if he wasn't, suppose: the U.S. refuses to accept turning Vietnam back to France postwar, or tells France to turn Vietnam into a Commonwealth, & Vietnam becomes a U.S. ally.
How probable is it?
How can it happen?
What are the impacts on the world if it does happen?
