The constant WW2 clichee threads like "Sea..., invasion and so on of PH, Hitler not antisemitic, ...." are IMO spamming this place again, and again and again. So what do you think about a "WW2 cliche"-Sticky in the post-1900 forum? Vote and explain.

Edit: Neither Thande nor the Dutch can be blamed.

It would be good yes. But not so specific as WW2 cliche.
Just 'common threads' and links to good examples.

And yes; of course you can still have valid discussion in even the most well trodden of TLs. It shouldn't be against the rules to create such threads, we should just make newbies aware of what is done to death so they will know they should have a interesting angle if they must make a thread on it.

Sea.. Tiger, Hitler dying early and What if Nazi Germany won? Have all been done extensively and I would suggest having a section such as “The Ten most commonly posted WI’s” and have links to the best article on each. So that those first timers can read that instead of opening a new thread.

Yes, but not too specific. Maybe a couple of stickies, actually. One for "What-ifs that have been done to death" with the implied threat of locking any thread that shows up with that WI (only for the most hated ideas, like sea mammal), and another for "Common What-ifs" which doesn't have any implied threat and is just there to tell newbies what has been done many times over.

And there should be sets of these in every forum, including FH and ASB.

Isn't that too extreme?

And what is it with never refering to Sea Lion by name? Its name doesn't even have anything to do with sea lions, it was because it was an amphibious invasion (Sea) of Britain (Lion). It's not like we refer to Barbarossa as "Operation Medieval-Crusading-Holy-Roman-Emperor-Who-Drowned-And-Is-Remembered-Primarily-For-The-Color-Of-His-Beard."

Personally, I'm voting against this, because well-researched WIs can be very entertaining even if they've been done to death, and poorly done ones rapidly disappear under other threads, so making a sticky won't do anything.

One sticky is good. Ten stickies is bad. I don't want this forum to be like the non political chat forum where upon entering the subforum, all you see are stickies.

Nobody will read them, and discussing old topics isn't a bad thing, so I'm going to vote no. If you don't like the cliche topic don't post in them.
