Most hippies became Republicans later on, it seems. And he has incentive, given his business interests. Not to say it's certain, but that doesn't seem ASB given that people's views can change over time.
Neither of those are qualifiers for this being ASB. Him being a hippy who took acid doesn't make it ASB, and neither does him having dated Joan Baez. Nothing actually makes this ASB, but there are things that make this highly implausible.
Jobs was socially Liberal and a progressive, and supported the Obama campaign. But he was also aligned with Business Republicans and was openly critical towards Obama for his business and immigration policies- maybe not enough to flip him, but it makes him an interesting Wendell Willkie analogy. However, the big flaw of this premise is simply that, in 2012, he isn't fit to run for the Republican nomination. Jobs simply wasn't a Conservative, and thus would sink like a stone in the primaries, which is what makes this implausible. It doesn't make it Alien Space Bats, because with the right PoD earlier in his life, he could easily have turned Conservative.
Some things about Steve Jobs:
1) He was motivated by a desire to make great products that change the world. He was not like Trump, who is an empire builder and wants his name immortalized. He was not like the Koch brothers who are heavily motivated by ideological beliefs. He wasnt even like Gates who wanted to make a great software company. Jobs wanted to make great products. How does that translate to politics? He wasnt a political animal and rarely got involved with politics at any level. Its possible for that to change but there needs to be a motivation.
2) He was socially liberal. Most hippies did not become Republicans. The ones that did were never hippies. They just protested Vietnam and liked the girls/free love before getting jobs on Wall Street or going to law school. In contrast, Jobs spent months hanging out in India and dropped acid. He went to Reed College in Oregon, a bastion of liberal, green ideals. Big difference between Jobs and your "hippie Republicans". At best you could make him a California Republican.
And he certainly isnt teaming up with Mike Pence. Maybe Rand Paul or another sane libertarian. Or perhaps a moderate Republican like Huntsman. But nobody like Pence.
3) He was already sick and had missed the opportunity for life saving treatments when he was first diagnosed. He chose "alternative medicine" and focused diet and other lifestyle habits over modern medicine. This was a direct reflection of his personality and his beliefs.
Changing all of these things requires changing his core personality. Its like saying what if Hitler didnt hate Jews, Lincoln was pro-slavery, or Stalin wasnt paranoid. Changing someone's core personality is either ASB or requires such an early POD which creates so many butterflies that it makes the person virtually unrecognizable with the one we know from OTL. What if he was adopted by a different family? What if he was raised in the Midwest? Maybe he's conservative and maybe designs great toasters for GE. But he likely never becomes the icon of OTL.
