steam power delayed or advanced

As I understand it Newcoman invented a not very efficient steam engine in the early 1700s used mainly for pumping water from coal mines. James Watt improved it and his concept was central to England ( and probably Scotland's) industrial revolution.

Had Watt not been born, survived childhood or had other interests how long would it have taken to have an efficient steam engine.

How much earlier could efficient steam power have been produced

What would be the consequences?

There were a lot of others looking into way of making a better or to upgrade the steam engine. Watt just got there first with his invention of his style of steam condenser. So I don't think it would have had much of an impact maybe 5 years. The high pressure steamengine was more a important advance.
