State of Franklin

What if, and how could the state of Franklin remain in existence? How would it affected subsequent American politics/state creation?

according to wikipedia it was only two votes short of being admitted so, change two peoples minds, or simply replace those two people with someone else.

As for changing the geography Franklin is kind of small and not in the most lucrative area, obviously there will be different states in general. It would be interesting if it set the president of having smaller states. Also It would add an extra state to the south and that would alter the way the north south compromises will go later on.

Well, it would be up to Congress to define its boundaries, so it might have been given a larger area - maybe about the eastern third of OTL Tennessee.

Located as it is, it will probably be a slave state, though perhaps one with relatively few slaves - another Delaware. However, it is almost certain to stay in the Union in 1861, which could make quite a difference to the course of the Civil War in the western theatre.
