State Names Needed

I need a state name for southern Michigan and northern Ohio, and can't decide which one to use. Here's the list:

1. Ottowa
2. Miami
3. Pontiac
4. Detroit
5. Washington
6. Shiawassee
7. Metropotamia

In the prject I'm working on, the US buys all of West Florida at the same time. I plan to split it into two states, east and west. I have a list of possible names, but again, I can't decide.

1. West Florida
2. East Florida
3. Louisiana
4. Other (please specify)

Also, because of some earlier problems with the other states, northwest Georgia and part of OTL Alabam has formed into one state. Here's some possible names:

1. Tennessee
2. North Georgia
3. East Alabama
4. Other (please specify)

I think Miami or Washington would be most likely.

I can't see the Congress creating states out of each tidbit of territory they acquire. Bundling both the two territories into one state would be straight forward. Naming things either East XXX or West XXX (let alone North XXX or South XXX) demonstrates a profound lack of imagination.

Not having a clue of when this would be happening I would suggest the name of Pensacola. Tho Apalachicola could work.

I also can't see the original colonies agreeing to be territorially dismembered. The subdivision of the Alabama Territory into the states of Mississippi and Alabama is interesting. The territory was originally going to be divided into two states running east and west, rather than north and south. Access to the sea, and the fact all the major rivers run south, implies that the most logical outcome was achieved historically.

How about Blue Ridge or Blueridge?

Georgia was the last state to give up her western territories in 1802. Unitl 1802, a small triangle shape portion of Georgia was not officaly part of Georgia. When Georgia gave up her western territories in 1802, that triangle part officaly became part of Georgia.

For Ohio I wold also add Cayuaga as a possible name. At that time we tended to name our new states after american indian names for rivers.

Really I think this depends on your POD - if the USA is stronger, or more traditional etc than OTL than names of the founders would be more applicable - Jefferson for example would work as a state name, it is after all a city. When did Washington become Washington ? Post 1850 I assume due to the Oregon accords, so its also available as a state name for somewhere else before then
