Springtime Inaugural?

WI, after William Henry Harrison's death, future inaugurations had been move forward to April-partly to honor his memory, but also out of concern for the health of future Presidents? What would the transition period be like between Election Day and then?

US Presidential inaugurals were March 4 through 1933 which was FDR's first inaugural. It was moved to January 20 by an ammendment to The US Constitution because it was felt there was too much time between the election in early November and the new President taking office in Early March.

That meant about 4 month between the election and the inaugurating. Moving it to January 20 meant only about 2 1/2 months.

To have the inauguration sometime in the Spring and warm weather means changing the date for the election. Also you don't want the election in February or even March, too much chance of a major winter storm across a major part of The USA on election day.

Of course to change the date for the inaugural would require ammending The US Constitution. An ammendment requires a 3/4 vote in Congress and then must be ratified by the state legislatures of 3/4 of the states which means 38 state legislatures must ratify it. Not an easy task.

I was wondering why they didn't move elections and inaugurations forward to earlier in the fall, like September-November.
