Sports WI's

Here are some sports WI's:

1. In 1990, the Bills were coming off of a 9-7 season where the players were feuding. They were called "The Bickering Bills". They won their opening game that year against Indianapolis, then got blown out by Miami in week 2 where some players were upset about being removed from the game. They beat the Jets in week 3, but still were having chemistry problems. Then, they had 3 wins that were pivotal in my mind. The first two were frenetic fourth-quarter comebacks against Denver and the Raiders where they were down by 10 points in the fourth quarter, and the third was against the Jets when Kelly threw a winning TD at the end of the game. The Bills found their winning chemistry and went on to four straight SB's. However, what if they lost those three games? How would the 90's have played out in the NFL?

2. What if the WHA and the ABA weren't successful? How would basketball and hockey look today?

3. What if Leonard Marshall didn't knock Joe Montana out in the 1990 NFC Championship?

4. What if the Falcons didn't trade Brett Favre?

5. What if the Houston Cougars would have won a championship in the early 80's when they had all those great players like Drexler and Olajuwon? Would their program stayed at the top longer?

That is all I have for now. If you have any others, let me know.

Answering your first question jab7345, I believe the Bills could still make the playoffs but they would've had a record of about 9 to 10 wins and would've exited quickly in the wild card round. Most likely, the super bowl would've featured the Miami Dolphins vs. the New York Giants as the Bo Jackson injury for the L.A. Raiders would've still happened and thus deflated the silver and black. It's possible that Marino could've attained his ring in that game but the Giants had quite the stingy defense. Of course, if this affects Buffalo for the next three seasons after, Marino may get other chances to get that elusive Lombardi trophy. That adds major butterflies to the AFC but the Dallas/San Francisco dominance of the NFC remains the same.

You probably mean the WHA and ABA being LESS successful right? Well, I imagine that different teams would've sprung up as teams like San Antonio or Milwaukee would've not been incorporated into the NBA?

Simple on the 49er-Giant game. The 49ers hold on to win 13-12 and face the Bills in the Super Bowl. I could see Buffalo winning though because they would take San Francisco much more seriously with Montana than the Giants with backup Jeff Hostetler, who is actually not that bad in his own right.

I know Jerry Glanville wasn't that crazy about Favre so I don't even think that he would start until a new head coach, maybe Dan Reeves, comes in to the organization.

Don't have an answer for the last one.

Bills

I agree with you that the Bills would have made a Wild Card, at best, but then the Raiders would have had home field, so they probably wouldn't have played Cincinnati, so Bo may not have had the injury. I think that the Raiders would have went to the SB, but lost to Belichick and Parcells in a close one. Then, in 1991, Ralph Wilson would have put Marv Levy on notice that, if they don't get to the SB, sweeping changes would be made in 1992.

So, Levy trades Cornelius Bennett, Nate Odomes, and Jeff Wright away, they switch to a 4-3, and draft several rookies that turn their defense around. They end up going to the SB, where they beat Washington. They go back the next year, losing to Dallas.

Here are some other Sports WI's:

1. What if Danny Biasone didn't create the 24-second shot clock for NBA use in the mid-50's?

2. What if the Saints draft Lawrence Taylor instead of RB George Rogers in 1981?

3. What if the Bears won the coin flip in 1970 for the #1 pick instead of the Steelers and took Terry Bradshaw?

4. What if the Browns, at someone's recommendation(I think it was Bernie Kosar, but I am not sure), brought back Bill Belichick as coach when the team was reincarnated in 1999?
