Sports; Ice hockey SCREW!

To celebrate the incoming sorta controversial and very canuck 'Goon' movie, who is like a new Splapshot of this generation maybe, and my frank distaste generally of sports, specially pro and all that..

Your mission, my fellows men, is to SCREW ice hockey; in Canada at least, if not whole America(s) or even the whole world, OR at least NHL and such.

Like;

-Make it never catch on in the future Canada, or keep the sport a lame niche thing

-Destroy the NHL, or make it NEVER happens, or very damn minor

-Tie the sport to a bad image, like anglo-canadian elitism and nationalism, if not frank racism (toward francos and others)

And so on. I DARE YOU!

Global warming happens earler. If you cant play hockey all winter on ponds/floode outdoor rinks it will never take off.

Before ice hockey become a big thing in Finland, bandy was more popular sport. My grandpa actually played in the national series. :D I think it could take place of ice hockey at least in Finland, Sweden and Russia (it still has many fans in those countries.) If Finns were better in football or had adopted American rules in baseball their interest towards those games could be also higher while eating ice hockey's support.

How about a large Irish contingent of settlers who bring Hurling, and introduce it to the Iriquois, who playing Lacrosse, tell them to man up and play it in the winter. Hurling in the snow is as much fun as ultimate frisbee on inline skates!

OTL's NHL lost four out of ten teams during the Great Depression. It's not much of a stretch for the league to go under entirely. Another league will probably replace it eventually, but this lack of continuity would dramatically hurt hockey at the pro level much like it did soccer in OTL, which had a decent-sized league go under in the 1930s and arguably still hasn't recovered in the US.

That's a nice possibility to exploit... Pro teams are a big part of such sports, and so if the NHL is screwed...

Okay, does peoples have more points of deviation and all where we could screw the NHL and Hockey?

Would the 'Maurice Richard Riot' get worse, and some stuck up NHL dudes go 'only WASP' mode by example?

This is a sin that I will not participate in.

That being said, currently we are facing Ice Hockey Screw, just wait 20 years, soccer will have replaced hockey as the fourth sport.

(Shudders and throws up)
