Sport AH: what if the WFL and/or USFL didn't collapsed?

And how, exactly, could they have stayed afloat? I mean, look at the list: The AFL had to combine with the NFL to survive, The WFL collapsed, the USFL collapsed, The CFL expansion into America collapsed, The XFL collapsed (thank goodness). I don't see how any of them could survive unless they became a part of the NFL.

Damn Trump.

The USFL was in the green for the first two years of its existence. They played in the spring, so the NFL basically ignored them. It was only after Trump bought a team that they began to compete with the NFL, and it was the downfall of the league. If Trump stays out, the league could survive, although propably at the same level as the American Hockey League, for example. It's more likely that the USFL could have become a de facto farm league. As it was, it only served to end Doug Floutie's career before it began.

Would the survival of one of these Leagues prevent the formation of the WLAF, which became NFL Europe?

I'll go with the de facto farm league thing for these leagues. Loved those Michigan Panther uniforms....
