What if the end of WW1 turned out in Germany's favor, but only up to a point. The peace deal would include Germany getting some of the bordering regions of Belgium for security (ie the defensible regions), France gets the French speaking parts (not Brussels) and the Netherlands (who was neutral in the conflict) gets the Flemish speaking regions. Basically its a standard 1918 offensive win scenario that forces Britain off the continent, but they want to keep fighting to prevent Germany from getting Belgium and the channel ports. Would this be a sufficient compromise to satisfy Britain?

Possible, since many Versailles borders were based on linguistic/ethnic splits.

Depending on how bad the occupation of Belgium is, post-war seperatist movements could really kick off.

the German Empire had Plans for Belgium
first the French speaking province of Liege become part of German Empire
(also Luxemburg) like french of Alsace-Lorraine after war of 1870
they will become Reichsland Luttich and Reichsland Luxemburg

the Flemish speaking regions will be a free transtit zone
for German Military and merchant towards channel coast.
with port of Ostende, Zeebrugge, Gent and Antwerpen
as major ports for German Military fleet and merchantshipping

Belgium, netherlands were part of German Customs union

this will boost the Flemisch seperatist movements alot

That being said, is it conceivable for the Germans in the wake of a narrow victory to give up Flanders to a friendly neutral nation that is in their customs union? To achieve peace and have access to the port (though no for military use), would the Germans be willing to do it?

It always seemed to me that Germany would take what it wanted from Belgium(Greater Luxembourg, Liege, the Congo) and proceed to compensate them with French territory(because Belgium wasn't so much an enemy as it was just a road.)
