spare italian Naval guns

Does anyone know what happened to the spare guns freed up when the Conte do Cavour class had their midship turret removed.

Also the turrets from the scrapped Leonardo da Vinci and the Dante Aligheri.

Were they scrapped ? or ended up as coastal artillery.

Could some have been reused in a commerce raider a sort of Fast monitor to harry convoys .

British monitors were disposable ships for shore bombardment to spare battleships the risk . Could the Italians have done the same to spare their own battleships from risk in the commerce raiding role.

A fast monitor with 3 , 12 inch could threaten convoys and tie up British forces in the escort role without risking a valuable battleship.

A commerce raider has to be a good (and fairly fast) sea boat. The British monitors could get away with cutting corners because they were only meant to operate in comparatively calm coastal waters, and didn't need to move very fast. Furthermore, they'd be operating in areas where the enemy's ability to hit back had been seriously degraded, not so with a convoy, which would almost certainly have escorts of destroyer grade or better. Basically, a monitor is a gun platform, while a commerce raider has to be an actual warship, so her requirements are different, and more expensive for the weaponry she carries.

If you want a commerce raider, replace the Conte di Cavour class's twin turrets with triples, and use the twins on said prospective raiders.

The Italians seemed to have had multiple floating batteries in WW 1 so there is the heritage to develop but they don't seem to have done anything similar in,WW2.

The Italians had several monitors in service during ww2 that dated from WW1 . These monitors included 15 inch turreted monitors used for harbour defence . And several armed with ex Austrian weapons .
