So basically a Civil War after Francos death after democratic reforms fail, Francos designated successor survives or a King getting autocratic. It is quite complicated to imagine how a Spanish Civil War 2 developes, which faction participate and who internationally will be involved. To what extent would the Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact support possible Marxist factions ? Would NATO and US react or even China ? Or thirdvstates actors ? Would possible Anti government factions gain masd support or would the Spanish people bcome more divided ? Would there be old grudges and revenge frim the Civil War era ?
A Francoquist faction would most likely supported by some South American right winged auticrats certainly by the Argentinian Junta and Pinochet in Chile for example. But I couldnt imagine a Chilean Operation Condor because logistics also they would not be allowed tontranspkrt troops there by the world. Cuba might actually send veteran troops or advisors, question is how they can get to Spanish soil.
I could see the European Community (EC) states be indifferent given its the Cold War especially the Center right. From Western countries there might be many younger people who feel for the resistance and join as International Brigades 2. It was the aftermath of the 68' revolts and the years of international resurgent Leftist terror groups from Japan to Germany. Also some Marxist inspired groups from Middle East might send fighters.
So given that Portugal had its change tondemocracy like in OTL ther are certainly mamy Portugese volunteer fighters on both sides. Maybe the stability of Portugese democracy is even threatened by an escaltating situation in Spain.
But there had been also international rightwinged terror groups and networks during the Cold War. So there might be quite many rightwinged volunteers joining the Falangists like Neo Nazi paramilitary groups like, Wehrsportgruppen' and Neo fascists. There might be also former Nazi personal, ex Waffen-SS and Wehrmacht personal and former Nazi collaborators from European countries. Right winged extremists from Western counties had been trained by groups in the Middle East in camps aswell as leftwinged.
Mercenaries might also join the conflict. Soldiers of Fortune that fought previously in de-colonization wars or else. Rhodesians, Belgians, French, South Africans, Portugese, etc. There might be also Ex-or active military personal from other countries. Ther might be sone Vietnam veterans from the US.
Interesting would be if there could be something like a Second Abraham Lincoln Brigade with Progressives and left winged volunteers.
For factions there might be many splinter groups wotrking together but also treachery, rivalry and infighting. There might be distrust against Moscow friendly groups and other Republican groups. If Trotzkists or Anarchist could ecists again ?
An interesting factor might be the forming of a Maoist group supported or endorsed by China.
