Spain avoids civil war

Is it possible for Spain to have a peaceful transition of power in the 1930s and avoid a civil war. Perhaps a less radical left wing, or a later left wing victory. Nationalisation was very "in" those decades so it seems hard to avoid a left wing government try to nationalize mines and such.

Also, a follow up question and the one I´m most interested in; How would it affect the rest of history.

I don´t think Spain would do anything but remain neutral in WW2. Their economy would grow faster in the 1950s probably, and Spain would perhaps equal France or Britain in GDP per capita in the 1970s or 80s. (I´m just assuming that democracies fare better than fascist states). Would such a Spain wish to join EU?

Portugal would probably democratize sooner... but perhaps more violently, and that opens up a lot of questions concerning the colonies.

But what would be a POD for that, and would things turn out that way?
