After World War II, the Soviet Union attempted to annul the Kars treaty and regain its lost territory. On June 7, 1945, Soviet Foreign Minister Vyacheslav Molotov told the Turkish ambassador in Moscow that the regions should be returned to the Soviet Union, in the name of both the Georgian and Armenian republics. Turkey found itself in a difficult position: it wanted good relations with the Soviet Union but at the same time they refused to give up the territories. Turkey itself was in no condition to fight a war with the Soviet Union which had emerged as a superpower after the second world war. By the autumn of 1945, Soviet troops in the Caucasus were already assembling for a possible invasion of Turkey. However opposition stemmed from British leader Winston Churchill who objected to these territorial claims as additional areas of where the Soviet government could exert its influence while President of the United States Harry S. Truman of the United States felt that matter shouldn't concern other parties. The Cold War was just beginning.

So what if the Soviets invaded Turkey in 1945?

Well, we could suppose that USA and UK will protest and surely both will send supplies and weapons to Turkey, with United Kingdom yet deploying troops in Greece and the USA with the need of supervising the Japan surrender and the military duties of occupation in Germany, Austria and other nations we could say that there are good probabilities that at least at first the western potences will not deploy troops to confront the Soviet Union in Turkey (although is possible the sending of aircraft: fighters and bombers), they will expect that with the rough terrain, the supposed prepared turkis army in trenches and the weapons and supplies, the turks could take a heavy toll to the soviets and stop the advance or at least slow, if this not happens, so it is very possible that the western potences decides to intervenes directly possibily in most part USA troops.

I don't think that the Soviet attack will be all that great. I mean, this wil no mean that Turkey will either a)be transformed into a fascist state, or b) getting split a la North/South Korea.

A soviet attack on Turkey in 1945 would result in a western response to the invasion. Remember in 1945 Turkey declared war on Germany.
