Someone on this thread said that there were border clashes between Soviet and Yugoslav troops when the Soviets crushed the Hungarian revolt in 1956.
What if the fights had mushroomed into a general war? The guy said the Yugoslavs had been given very limited rules of engagement, but if the Soviets were able to force the border in large numbers, the rest of the Yugoslav military would have to respond.
What are the Yugoslavs' options in such a scenario? Could they move into Hungary to attack the bases of the Soviet units attacking them, assist the rebels there, and hopefully touch off a general anti-Soviet revolt? Or would they have enough trouble ejecting the Soviet soldiers who'd invaded?
