Soviet Union in a War On Terror

If the Soviet Union didn't collapse in 1991 but the Cold War still died down as the two superpowers reconciled what would be the effects if a terrorist attack equivalent to 9-11 still happened in the United States by an Islamic organization (doesn't have to be exactly Al-Qaeda)?

This has been discussed before--multiple times, IIRC. The Soviet Union will likely help the US or provide backup, but as communism and by extension atheism will be the greater satan in the eyes of the jihadists you'll be more likely to see car bombs in Moscow than planes in New York.

Yes, the Mujahadeen (predecessor to the Taliban) was started by fighting against the Soviet union in Afghanistan. So you'd see Al-Queda attack the SU under a taliban stronghold in Afgahnistan and if the SU go in again (which would be highly unpopular) then the taliban would be funded by the US (rather than the US working with the USSR even if the have cordial relations) and the US heavily condeming Russian violence.
