One of the biggest problems facing the Wehrmacht in 1941 was the Soviet's lack of a proper road network like the rest of Europe. What few roads existed were unpaved and turned into mud during the Rasputa, meaning wheeled traffic wasn't going anywhere. What if the Soviets had a paved road system like everybody else?
My guess is even if they did we're not talking anything on the level of the rest of Europe, and as such can be cut and/or blocked in numerous places. But if the German's can break through and keep moving fast they _might_ be able to get to Moscow before winter.
