Soviet Support for Hungarian SSR

The Hungarian Soviet Republic was the first European communist nation since the October Revolution in Russia. All in all, the communist government of Bela Kun lasted about four months before the Romanians invaded and disassembled it.

IIRC, the Russians pledged support for Kun's government, but were unable to reach Hungary in time due to military reversals in the Ukraine. Is there any way the Soviets would be able to reach Budapest in time and prop up the Hungarian Communist Party? What would this mean for WWII and the rest of history?

I think the Soviets would have a hell of a time getting to Hungary in time to save it, given as how Kun was in charge in 1919, with the Czechs halfway to Moscow, Denikin halfway to Moscow, the Poles halfway to Kiev, Yudenich halfway to Petrograd, and the Allies occupying everywhere.

Granted a massive White failure in 1918, say, which would be mighty tough on its own, I'd still think that the Russians would be incapable of propping up the Hungarians, given how weak postwar Russia was and how far away Budapest is from them. They'd probably also try to support the Bavarians and the Spartacists - I can see WW1.5 being a massive Allied/German/Turkish/Polish/Austrian/Czechoslovak/Japanese/Everybodyelsian invasion of the USSR in 1920, to "stop the spread of Bolshevism".
