As we all know, the Cultural Revolution was carried out by Mao Zedong to "revitalize" the Communist regime in China (read: regain power) where he alleged that China was being infiltrated by bourgeoisie elements who wanted to restore capitalism and that in reaction, the "Four Olds" and the "bourgeois" elements which infiltrated China had to be destroyed for a new, "proletarian" society to emerge. Needless to say, the "Cultural Revolution" led to widespread chaos in China as the Red Guards organized attacked anyone in a position of authority, started fighting against each other in the name of Mao, and destroyed lots of cultural heritage in China. So, could something akin to the Cultural Revolution have happened in either the Soviet Union or a (victorious) Nazi Germany?
