Soviet-Japanese Pact

Slightly ASB, what if instead of allying with Germany to take Poland, the Soviets allied with the Japanese to take some of the states (not all, mind you, just some). So, after the deal is struck, the US is attacked in September of 1938, and the Soviet-Jap Alliance manages to take Lousiana, Mississppi, and Arkansas. As per the agreement, Japan brought 90% of the forces Naval power, and the Soviets brought 75% of the forces Infantry power, while they split 50-50 with bringing air power. The US backlashes quickly, and 95% of the attack group's ships are destroyed, along with 70% of the aircraft, and 20% of the infantry. They took back Louisiana and Mississippi, but seeing the incoming destruction, the Soviets and Japs pulled back ALL of their forces to guard Arkansas. Then, in a mass invasion, the Soviet Union drops 1,000,000 paratroopers (of Japanese and Soviet troops) into Arkansas to back up their comrades. They fortify Arkansas' borders and sit in for the long haul. In February of 1939, the Americans cut off their radio transmissions, and they are truly stranded within the state. What would happen next?

Er...what? This is very ASB. Japan and the USSR are gonna need a helluva lot of naval power to pull this off. And how did they managed to skip California, Nevada et al? And even if they did somehow pulled this off, the USSR is gonna get kicked in the ass by Germany. Which brings me to the point that even if this is possible, the USSR would be more bothered about the threat on their doorstep than a senseless invasion of the US.

That actually wouldn't be ASB at all. And now that I think about it, I need to come up with a plausable scenario for that.
[shameless self-promotion]Allow me to plug my TL (which I really need to update - I'll do that shortly).[/shameless self-promotion]

Randomideaguy, this is very ASB. Even if almost all the world combined against the USA, it would be almost impossible from the to actually invade the continental USA. Getting armies across the ocean is that hard, especially when your invading a large, industrial powerhouse. I am also not sure why they would go for the Eastern seaboard of the United States, or why they would go for the United States at all for that matter.

OTL. There were rumors of such a pact in 1940, when it looked like the USSR might join teh Axis. Effectively, the Sovies were to get Sinkiang and Mongolia, with a free hand in Iran. The Japanese were to get Manchukuo and North China.

I didn't want discussion on HOW it happened, I was just wondering how 1. A Soviet-Japanese Pact would effect both Operation Barbossa and also Russia's Allied spot, and 2. How a landlocked Soviet state in the US would affect the Cold War and also weapon development (i.e. a huge drill)
