Soviet Invasion of the Raj

Interesting follow-on: OTL there were talks between Entente and Japan about war against USSR. Considering that Japanese still were smarting over the Ribbentrop-Molotov Act, if Operation Pike or sth similiar went in, we may end up with France-UK-Japan vs. Germany-USSR.

That's a bit simplified, France won't get involved with the USSR when it's still got Germany on the border, Germany won't side with the USSR, and I think Britain and France will be unlikely to ally with Japan over its treatment of the Chinese, although they may try to persuade the Dutch to keep selling oil. in fact I'd say the only real solid link in the whole lot would be Germany-Italy, and even that's suspect.

All in all this is going to be a messy war.

Only they would have, we have the documents. They thought they could take out two birds with one stone, since Hitler was 'dependent' on Soviet oil.

Germany won't side with the USSR

They already have at this point. People tend to gloss over how close the Nazi-Soviet pact brought them together.

Since they weren't ready to even move on the Siegfried Line I have my doubts

Except the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact was a non-aggression pact, not an alliance pact.

The big question is what would provoke a Soviet invasion attempt of the Raj in the first place.

Will there be a timeline in due course?

It's riskier but Japan could gain far more useful territory by attacking the British than it could by attacking the Russians.
