Soviet East Austria, revised Austria-Hungary?

I was looking at a map of Europe, immediately following World War II and I thought about the Soviet zone, what if they had refused to hand that over too. kind of small and it doesn't look like it would be very viable as a puppet state, even if Europe indeed has some small places. They have Hungary under their thumb and it's just been shaved back to its post World War 1 territory, uniting the two back into a single state seems like an option. So what if they had? what the remaining part of Austria have been united into Germany?

Western Austria would have been united with West Germany. Eastern Austria might become an "Austrian Democratic Republic". As far as I understand from an earlier discussion, the reason the Soviet Union agreed to a neutral and united Austria was in order to avoid that the NATO-members West Germany and Italy should have a common border.

Soviet Austria has a Population of almost 2 Millions (exluding the Soviet Zone in Vienna which would add a large number to that),and in the immediat post war years 65% of austrias agriculture was there,so it would be a viable state, while being to big to be swallowed by hungary.

So since the general consensus is that rump Austria would be merged with West Germany, I have to ask - post-Cold War, do we see Soviet Austria merged back into West Germany with East Germany?

If the butterflies have already been genocided and the Cold War still ends with a Soviet collapse, then obviously it's going to be merged into Germany, yes. What else would it do? Unless it manages to stay alive as a hermit kingdom in the middle of Europe, but given how easy it is to fund rebels there it probably wouldn't take long to topple such a regime via external pressure.

What would the effects of a Germany with Austria included post-WW2 be on West Germany? For that matter, the effects of a Europe without Austria?
