Southern Italy, Romania, Sicily and Sardinia under a single state

Is it possible for Southern Italy, Sicily, Romania and Sardinia to be under a single state or empire with the latin culture as dominant.

added sicily..

I think the Habsburgs could do this..

No offence, but your TL ideas can be a bit random and rule of cool...

Habsburgs... maybe. If Austrians-Hungarians and such took Romania, AND then they get the italian territories.. But HOW?

The Two-Siciles Kingdom was by the way SPanish. So, Catalonia instead is easier.

curious fact is that in the 6th century southern italy and sicily was also called Romania (territory of the romans i.e. the Byzantines), as opposed to northern italy Lombard-dominated Longobardia.
Thus, strictly speaking, we had such an empire, and even if the greek culture was dominant instead of the latin one, latin legacy was still very strong in it.

They have a common Byzantine heritage and they are Romance speaking so uniting them is interesting for me.

Honestly, the only way I could see this is for the d'Anjous to solidify their holdings in the 14th century. Of course, only part of Romania - Transylvania - would be part of this, and the whole thing would be dominated by Hungary, but there you go.
